Disappointing Vintage at the Oscars
Every year I look forward to the Oscars, not for the awards but for the red carpet. The elegant gowns, or wild fashion statements, both are equally as exciting to me. The oohs, and aahs, or huh? as the celebrities try to make the “Best Dressed List”, or one up each other in their uniqueness, originality, exclusivity, and appeal.
You’d think this would make a vintage dress high demand on the Red Carpet, since it tends to exhibit all of these qualities. Vintage dresses are one of a kind, hard to find, different from what fashion designers are making now, wearable, and well made to flatter the female figure. You would think this is exactly what every celebrity walking down the red carpet would want. But apparently not.
Back In Style and Tupac?
The late Tupac Shakur, like Back In Style, was a trend setter, fashion innovator, and label seeker, so it should come as no surprise that he wore some of the same items that we have had in our inventory. The vest pictured below on Tupac and at Back In Style, was a Versace bold silk print, a signature style of Versace in the 1990s.
One of the many fun and thrilling things about shopping vintage is that every article of clothing has a past and story. You never know where the piece might of come from or who’s it might of been!

A feminine vintage 1970s dress with soft lavender, flowing chiffon, and glittering rhinestones. This dress is made up of two layers. The under layer is fitting, and has more structure. Spaghetti straps lead to a sweetheart neckline, and defined waist falls into a straight floor length skirt. The outer layer is a sheer loose fitting chiffon. High round neckline, dolman blousy sleeves, fitted elastic waist falls into a flowing floor length skirt. The neckline is trimmed in two rows of rhinestones, and the bodice is decorated with tear drop shaped rhinestone forms. Keyhole in back. This early 1970s dress is a little bit bohemian, a little bit love child, a very free and romantic combination.
