Fashion Quote of the Day
“Never confuse fashion and style. Fashion relies on unattainable looks on women with unrealistic bodies. Style is about utilizing the best aspects of you.”
“To figure out your personal style, you’ve first got to comes to terms with the raw material: your body. Look at it, really look at it, then decide what you’d like the emphasize and what you need to balance visually. You’ve got to dress for the body you have. When you dress solely for yourself- your body, your life, you age, and your circumstances- you become beautiful.”

Smaller handbags Back In Style
After several years of hauling around back-achingly large bags, women are getting some relief. Small bags are back in style.
“The fashion consumer doesn’t want to look like she’s lugging around her entire office anymore,” said Robert Burke, who runs an eponymous New York luxury consulting firm. “There is a desire to look more carefree.”
The trend parallels a general shift toward more ladylike fashion, and may help generate sales in the handbag market, which grew 10 percent to about $10.3 billion in the year that ended in June, according to Coach Inc. Luxury sales are expected to rise 7.5 percent this holiday season, faster than the 6.7 percent increase a year earlier, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Top Ten Reasons to keep Vinegar in your Laundry Room
Here’s why. The acid in white distilled vinegar is too mild to harm fabrics, yet strong enough to dissolve the alkalies in soaps and detergents. This prevents yellowing, acts as a fabric softener and static cling reducer, and attacks mold and mildew, and more. Below are 13 common problems with easy vinager solutions.
Reduce static cling and keep lint from sticking to clothes: add 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar to the wash cycle.
Water & salt stains off shoes and boots: Wiping them down with a solution of equal parts white distilled vinegar and water.
Perspiration odor and stains as well as those left by deodorants: Spray full-strength white distilled vinegar on underarm and collar areas before tossing them into the washing machine.
Holes left along the hemline when you let out the hem: Moisten a cloth with white distilled vinegar, placing it under the fabric, then iron.
Laundry Tip: Removing Perspiration Stains

In the heat of the summer, we all worry about ruining our favorite white shirt. Here is an easy tip on how to keep your light colored tops looking fresh.
Dissolve a few tablets of aspirin (white, non coated) in a cup of hot water. Pour over the stain, or if the fabric allows, add cool water and soak the garment. When it looks like the stain has been removed, rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

Laundry Tip: How to wash sequined or embellished items

So we all love the sequin trend! Sequined mini dresses, embellished tops, beaded sweaters, but it can really be a budget buster if you have to spend $20 dry cleaning your item every time you wear it. Here is an easy trick that will allow you to wash your sequined, beaded and embellished items at home.
Find a cotton pillowcase that is neutral colored. ( You don’t want the pillow case to run all over your fabulous item).
Turn your embellished garment inside out and place it inside the pillow case.
Tie a knot as close to the item as you can so that the garment isn’t swishing around inside the pillow case. Now you are ready to throw it in the washing machine. Be sure it is on the gentle cycle.
Lay flat to dry.
The ettiquete of giving vintage as gifts
Our very own Gretchen asks the Miami Herald Advice Diva, Tara Solomn about the ettique of giving vintage as gifts. Read on to see what she said…
ADVICE DIVA
It’s not used junk — it’s vintage BY TARA SOLOMON
advicediva@MiamiHerald.com
Dear Advice Diva:
As co-owner of a vintage and resale clothing website, I am often presented with fashion questions. I am hoping to get your advice on one of the more frequent dilemmas. My clients love vintage and are past feeling uncomfortable wearing a used dress or carrying a pre-owned handbag, but some are hesitant when it comes to giving a used gift. Personally, I feel a vintage gift not only allows you to afford more value on your budget, but that often the item is more unique and special. They may get 10 scented candles, but they’ll most definitely only receive one 1940s mesh evening bag. What do you recommend?
