Magazine Monday: Antique White Lace Blouse
While you might not thin of wearing a white linen blouse to a cocktail party, Lucky Magazine shows us how to do it. Take the feminine, lady like blouse and add a daring, bright bold skirt in a sophisticated shape, like a pencil skirt or a godet skirt. It is best not to pair the ladylike blouse with a fuller for risk of looking too prim. Balance out your accessories with a classic pearl necklace, and sexy heels, both of which up the dressiness of your attire and make the outfit cocktail appropriate.
Natalie Portman’s vintage Oscars gown sells for $50,000!

The star’s vintage Christian Dior dress, which divided fashion critics at the Oscars, was sold for a phenomenal sum to a couture collector.
Mar 08, 2012 08:30:00 AM by Rebecca Cope
Natalie Portman’s star status proved valuable to couture dress dealers Rare Vintage yesterday, as the vintage Christian Dior gown she wore to the Oscars last month sold for $50,000 at auction.
The company, who Natalie borrowed the dress from, put it up for auction on their site 1stdibs.com once it had been returned, and must have been pleased with the result, with a London-based couture enthusiast getting their hands on the exquisite piece.
Disappointing Vintage at the Oscars
Every year I look forward to the Oscars, not for the awards but for the red carpet. The elegant gowns, or wild fashion statements, both are equally as exciting to me. The oohs, and aahs, or huh? as the celebrities try to make the “Best Dressed List”, or one up each other in their uniqueness, originality, exclusivity, and appeal.
You’d think this would make a vintage dress high demand on the Red Carpet, since it tends to exhibit all of these qualities. Vintage dresses are one of a kind, hard to find, different from what fashion designers are making now, wearable, and well made to flatter the female figure. You would think this is exactly what every celebrity walking down the red carpet would want. But apparently not.
Trend Alert: Fur Collared Coats
They say everything comes back in style, and what was old is new again. Well, apparently that applies to 1970s style winter coats with fur collars. This Marc Jacobs ad from this season features a coat that looks remarkably similar to the vintage ones we offer at BackInStyle.com. I wonder if the price tag is the same. Ours are around $150, do you think Marc Jacob’s are about that price?

Celebrity Style: Vintage at Golden Globes
IT’S A FRIENDLY FASH-OFF!

The fashion press may still be swooning over last night’s Golden Globes but it wasn’t the only red carpet welcoming stylish celebs over the weekend.
Rachel Bilson and Estelle also caught our attention after stepping out in vintage-inspired looks at the 2012 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala in LA.
We rarely see Rachel looking everything less than perfect but she really stepped up her game in this ladylike dress. Textured with feathers, chiffon and sparkles, this pretty frock incorporated spring’s hottest trends.

Estelle In Vintage Chanel – 2012 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala

Yesterday evening I attended the 2012 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala in LA, so I was able to meet to all the celebs who hit the red carpet.
British singer Estelle, who performed at the event, was first to arrive.
She looked beautiful wearing a vintage Chanel dress from Decades, who hosted the grand soiree.
Green satin Christian Louboutin peep-toes and a bejeweled Judith Leiber clutch accessorized her navy lace dress with a ruffled hemline.

Emmy Rossum Wow’s in Vintage Inspired Look

Emmy Rossum looked classically chic as she hit the red carpet for the Shameless season two premiere in NYC last night.
The actress wore an ivory beaded dress from the Ralph Lauren Spring 2012 collection and paired it with jeweled accessories.
STORY: Is Emmy Rossum Shameless?
A Ralph Lauren clutch covered in Swarovski crystals and blush metallic suede Jesilla sandals created the classic 1920s flapper look.
The 25-year-old ingenue also wore Ralph Lauren vintage jewelry that included a diamond bracelet, earrings and moonstone ring. Her hair and makeup helped pull together the perfect red carpet look.

Shoes Are to Women As Cufflinks Are to Men. How could both sexes possibly need another pair? Does dad pass down his favorite links to his near-dapper son? Heck, no. If you want some flash… you have to flash some cash. Whatever suits your fancy– or fancies your suit, just buy your own damn Cufflinks! (Hence, continual demand.)
